The
Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Salem Division, Southern Railway, has observed
the Police Commemoration Day today in the Salem Division Office Premises. Sri Shubhranshu,
Divisional Railway Manager, Salem, participated in the Commemoration Day and
paid homage to the Martyrs, in the presence of Sri V. Govindarajan, Asst.
Security Commissioner, RPF. Sri Shubhranshu read out the names of martyrs
from the Shahid Pustak (Martyrs Record Book), 9 from RPF and other police
personnel, who laid down their lives while in service, in the past year (from
21.10.2014 to 20.10.2015), and paid rich tributes to them. He mentioned that by remembering the martyrs,
we remind our duties to ourselves. Later, he laid a wreath on the Martyrs
Memorial, along with Sri Ma. Vignavelu, Sr. Divisional Engineer, Co-Ordination,
Salem Division.
The Police Commemoration Day is observed by Police forces all over
India, as a tribute to the sacrifice of 10 CRPF personnel who laid down their
lives fighting against the Chinese Aggression, at Hotspring, Ladakh (J&K),
on 21st October, 1959.
