The participants of the road show
A Road Show was conducted by Salem Division,
Southern Railway, today (13.07.2016) at Salem Junction, in which Sri Ravi Sekar
Sinha, Addl. Divisional Railway Manager, Salem, flagged off a march by the
school children from Sri Vidhya Mandhir, Salem, Scouts, Guides and volunteers
from various NGOs. During the function,
5 wheel chairs were presented by the office bearers from Round Table of India,
Salem, and Sri Sinha received them, on behalf of Salem Division.
While interacting with the media persons, Sri Ravi
Sekar Sinha, mentioned that in the last 2 years, Salem Division, is excelling
in all spheres including passenger service and safety. He said that various new
developments have taken place in the Salem Junction such as extension of station building,
new lifts in Platform Nos. 1 & 3/4, Foot over bridge (FOB) connecting all
platforms, inauguration of new passenger waiting hall at Platform No.4, Airconditioned
pay-and-use Waiting Hall at Platform Nos. 3/4, new Automatic Ticket Vending Machines,
etc. He further stated that installation of 2 escalators at Platform No.1 and
3/4 have been completed and are now getting tested. These will be commissioned
before month end. The works for construction of a second entry to Salem
Junction on the other side to avoid traffic snarls in the main entrance, and widening
of Platform No.5 into an island platform have also started, he added.
Further, ADRM said that Foot Over Bridge has been
constructed in Buddireddypatti and works are going in for FOBs at Samalpatti
and Chinna Salem. Solar plants have been installed in various stations such as
Salem, Attur, Tirupur, etc. to tap the unconventional green energy, and due to
continuous awareness programs conducted by Safety Branch of Salem Division,
there were no accidents in the unmanned level crossings, in the current year so
far, he said. To redress complaints from passengers, the Helpline Nos. 138
& 182 and Social Media such as Facebook, Twitter, etc. are being effectively
used by Salem Division and the rail users have expressed their happiness over
the response of Salem Division, Sri Sinha, added.
Later, the participants in the Road Show went
around the Salem Junction carrying placards with awareness messages on
cleanliness, protection of eco system, etc., A dance program by the students
was also conducted. Sri Ma. Vignavelu, Sr. Divisional Engineer/Co-ordination,
Sri Viju Vin, Divisional Commercial Manager/Coordination, and other Divisional
officers and staff were present on the occasion.
