Special Passenger Trains between Salem and Karur on 2nd & 3rd August, 2015 for Aadi Perukku

To cater to the rush of passengers for the Aadi Perukku Festival, Salem Division is operating 6 special passenger trains on 02.08.2015 (Sunday) and 2 special passenger trains on 03.08.2015 (Monday) between Salem and Karur. On 2^nd August, Salem-Karur special trains will start from Salem at 06.00 Hrs., 10.40 Hrs., and 17.30 Hrs., and will reach Karur by 08.00 Hrs., 12.40 Hrs., and 19.30 hrs., In the return direction, Karur-Salem Special Trains will start from Karur at 08.20 hrs., 13.00 hrs., and 19.50 hrs., and will reach Salem by 10.20 hrs., 15.00 hrs., and 21.50 hrs. respectively. Likewise, on 3^rd  July, Salem-Karur special train will start from Salem at 10.40 Hrs., and will reach Karur by  12.40 hrs., In the return direction, Karur-Salem Special Train will start from Karur at 13.00 hrs., and will reach Salem by 15.00 hrs.

Special trains between Madurai and Rameswaram and addition of coaches in Madurai Rameswaram Passenger Train on 30.07.2015

Special Trains Between Madurai And Rameswaram on 30^th  July 2015

In order to clear rush of passengers to Rameswaram on 30th July 2015, Railways will run a pair of special trains. The Special will leave Madurai at 07.30 hrs and reach Rameswaram at 10.30 hrs. In the return direction, the train will leave Rameswaram at 14.00 hrs and reach Madurai around 17.00 hrs. The composition of the train will be 7 second class sleeper coaches, 8 General Second Class Coaches, and 2 luggage cum brake vans. The special trains will stop at Manamadurai, Paramakudi, Ramanathapuram, Manamadurai, Mandapam, and Pamban in both directions.

Augmentation Of Passenger Train To Rameswarm On 30^th July 2015

In order to clear rush of passengers at Rameswaram on 30th July 2015, Railways will augment a pair of passenger trains running between Madurai and Rameswarm with four General Second Class Coaches and one luggage-cum-brake van with accommodation for the disabled.

Train No.56723 Madurai – Rameswaram Passenger leaving Madurai at 06.55 hrs on 30th July 2015 to reach Rameswaram at 10.35 hrs will have four General Second Class Coaches and one luggage-cum-brake van with accommodation for the disabled, in addition to the existing 9 General Second Class Coaches and 2 Luggage Cum Brake Vans.

நாளை, ஜூலை 30 ஆம் தேதி ( வியாழன் ) ஒரு நாள் மட்டும், மதுரையில் இருந்து ராமேஸ்வரத்திற்கு காலை 7.30 மணிக்கு சிறப்பு ரயில் புறப்பட்டு காலை 10.30 மணிக்கு ராமேஸ்வரம் சென்று சேரும்.  இந்த ரயில் ராமேஸ்வரத்தில் இருந்து பிற்பகல் 2 மணிக்கு புறப்பட்டு மதுரைக்கு மாலை 5 மணியளவில் வந்து சேரும்.

நாளை, ஜூலை 30 ஆம் தேதி ( வியாழன் ) ஒரு நாள் மட்டும், மதுரையில் இருந்து காலை 6.55 மணிக்கு புறப்படும் ராமேஸ்வரம் பாசஞ்சர் மற்றும் ராமேஸ்வரத்தில் இருந்து மதியம் 1 மணிக்கு புறப்படும் மதுரை பாசஞ்சர் ரயில்களில் கூடுதலாக நான்கு இரண்டாம் வகுப்பு பெட்டிகளும் ஒரு சரக்கு பெட்டியுடன் இணைந்த பயணிகள் பெட்டியும் ( மொத்தம் 5 பெட்டிகள் ) இணைக்கப்படும்.

Salem Division Provides Disposble/Collapsible Garbage Bags In Vestibules Of Train Coaches To Keep Coaches Clean

As part of Swachch Bharath/Clean India campaign initiated by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Indian Railways is taking various steps to keep the railway station and other railway premises clean by adopting various measures. 

Dumping of garbage and other wastes in the railway passenger coaches is a major issue that Indian Railways are trying to tackle, by means of frequent awareness campaigns, distribution of pamphlets to passengers, advertisements, and even levy of penalty for defacing the railway premises.  In particular, the vestibules in between the coaches have become a dumping ground for garbage/waste by the passengers, that likely to spill over to tracks through the gaps in the vestibules, apart from emanating bad odor, much to the chagrin of passengers.

As a major step towards keeping the railway passenger coaches clean, Salem Division of Southern Railway has come out with a novel idea of placing a disposable/collapsible garbage bags in the vestibules in between the coaches.  In this, a plastic bag will be attached to two loops that are fastened to the hand rails available in the vestibules. The bags measuring 45” height x 20” width, and` costing approximately about Rs.100/- each, will be able to hold garbage up to 25 Kgs, are made of polythene of microns approved by the Govt. of India (i.e. not less than 40 microns). The placement of the disposable/collapsible garbage bag has been fixed in such a way not to hinder the movement of passengers.

These disposable/collapsible garbage bags have been designed by the Mechanical Branch of Salem Division, under the supervision of Shri Shubranshu, Divisional Railway Manager, and Shri Ajay Kumar Jaiswal, Divisional Mechanical Engineer, Salem Division. The design will be implemented soon by all the Divisions in Southern Railway to start with and will be expanded to other zonal railways in phases.

The disposable/collapsible garbage bag is at present fitted in all the coaches of trains that have primary maintenance at Coimbatore/Erode, viz. T.No. 12674/12673-Cheran Express,  T.No.12084/12083, Coimbatore Mayavaram jan Shatabdi Express, 12647/12648 Coimbatore Nizamuddin Kongu Express, 16614/16613 Coimbatore Rajkot Express, 16618/16617 Coimbatore Rameswaram Express, 16610/16612 Coimbatore-Nagercoil Express, 22616/22618 Coimbatore Tirupathy Express, 16616/16615 Coimbatore Mannargudi Chemmozhi Express and 22650/22649 Erode Chennai Yercaud Express. In addition, in the long distance trains that are cleaned at Erode (which is a Clean Train Station) from 06.00 Hrs. to 22.00 Hrs., and in trains that arrive and leave Coimbatore at day time with a short stay such as Train No. 12680/12679 Coimbatore-Chennai Intercity Express, such disposable/collapsible garbage bag has been fitted in every coach. These bags will be removed at the destination and disposed of safely, as per norms.

In T.No. 12674/12673-Cheran Express that will proceed as pairing rake for Train No. 12655/12656 Chennai Ahmedabad Navjeeevan Express, Salem Division has provided 2 coach attendants in the air-conditiioned classes for replacement/disposal of garbage bags, who will travel up to Ahmedabad and return. In addition, Salem Division has planned to appoint private on-board cleaning service providers for T.No.12084/12083, Coimbatore Mayavaram Jan Shatabdi Express, 12647/12648 Coimbatore Nizamuddin Kongu Express & 16614/16613 Coimbatore Rajkot Express, who will ensure replacement/disposal of garbage bags in all the coaches, for which tenders have been called for.

Because of placement of disposable/collapsible garbage bags in vestibules, coaches will be free of garbage, and spillage in the vestibules will be eliminated. Chances of theft of plastic containers/bins that are being provided at present in coaches are prone for theft/misuse, which is eliminated by the introduction of disposable/collapsible garbage bags.

Over and above all these steps, Salem Division is also contemplating a plan, to supply disposable polythene bags to the passengers in every coach, so that they can drop all the waste/disposable in the bags that will be collected at intervening Stations of Salem Division.

Appointment of Yatri Ticket Suvidha Kendra-YTSK (Private Advance Railway Ticket Booking Agency) at Erode

Salem Division of Southern Railway is taking various steps to decongest the Railway Station ticket counters by taking various steps such as appointment of JTBS (Jan Sadharan Ticket Booking Sevaks) for issue of unreserved train tickets/platform tickets in major cities, installation of ATVMs (Automated Ticket Vending Machines) in major stations, etc.,

As a giant stride towards this goal, Salem Division’s appointed Yatri Ticket Suvidha Kendra or YTSK (Private Reserved Railway Ticket Booking Agent) has started functioning from today (22.07.2015), near the new bus stand, Erode. This is the first facility of this kind in the entire Southern Railway.

This YTSK will be an extended Advance Railway Ticket Booking center, working from 08.30 hrs. to 22.00 hrs. on week days and from 08.30 hrs to 20.00 hrs on Sundays. This is more than the normal working hours of the Railway Ticket Booking Centers, serving the passengers for extended hours. YTSK license will be valid for a period of 3 years. At present, the Erode YTSK is having a single counter and this can go up to 4 counters in future.  The licensee will have to submit a report on the sales of tickets to the Erode Railway Station authorities on daily basis.

Unlike an IRCTC authorized ticket booking agent, who can issue only online IRCTC tickets, YTSK licensee will issue normal tickets just like a railway advance ticket booking counter, on cash payment. Apart from the reserved tickets, YTSK licensee will issue unreserved (UTS) and platform tickets as well. The additional charges at YTSK counters will be Rs.30/- per passenger for the second sitting and sleeper classes, Rs.40/- per passenger for all other classes and Re.1/- per passenger for unreserved & platform tickets.

While the YTSK licensee is authorized to accept cancellation of reserved tickets issued by them only, the YTSK issued tickets can be canceled through any of the ticket counters in railway stations. YTSKs are not authorized to cancel unreserved tickets or platform tickets. Only fully paid advance train tickets can be booked through YTSK and no concession ticket can be issued by the YTSK centre.

Tatkal tickets can also be booked through YTSK center, but the timings for Tatkal bookings will be 30 minutes after the Tatkal booking timings at the regular station ticket booking counters. That is at the YTSK Centre, AC Tatkal Tickets can be booked between 10.30 & 11.00 Hrs. and Non-AC Tatkal Tickets between 11.30 & 12.00 Hrs. on par with the other IRCTC/Private agency bookings.
