Salem Division of Southern Railway is taking various steps to decongest the Railway Station ticket counters by taking various steps such as appointment of JTBS (Jan Sadharan Ticket Booking Sevaks) for issue of unreserved train tickets/platform tickets in major cities, installation of ATVMs (Automated Ticket Vending Machines) in major stations, etc.,
As a giant stride towards this goal, Salem Division’s appointed Yatri Ticket Suvidha Kendra or YTSK (Private Reserved Railway Ticket Booking Agent) has started functioning from today (22.07.2015), near the new bus stand, Erode. This is the first facility of this kind in the entire Southern Railway.
This YTSK will be an extended Advance Railway Ticket Booking center, working from 08.30 hrs. to 22.00 hrs. on week days and from 08.30 hrs to 20.00 hrs on Sundays. This is more than the normal working hours of the Railway Ticket Booking Centers, serving the passengers for extended hours. YTSK license will be valid for a period of 3 years. At present, the Erode YTSK is having a single counter and this can go up to 4 counters in future. The licensee will have to submit a report on the sales of tickets to the Erode Railway Station authorities on daily basis.
Unlike an IRCTC authorized ticket booking agent, who can issue only online IRCTC tickets, YTSK licensee will issue normal tickets just like a railway advance ticket booking counter, on cash payment. Apart from the reserved tickets, YTSK licensee will issue unreserved (UTS) and platform tickets as well. The additional charges at YTSK counters will be Rs.30/- per passenger for the second sitting and sleeper classes, Rs.40/- per passenger for all other classes and Re.1/- per passenger for unreserved & platform tickets.
While the YTSK licensee is authorized to accept cancellation of reserved tickets issued by them only, the YTSK issued tickets can be canceled through any of the ticket counters in railway stations. YTSKs are not authorized to cancel unreserved tickets or platform tickets. Only fully paid advance train tickets can be booked through YTSK and no concession ticket can be issued by the YTSK centre.
Tatkal tickets can also be booked through YTSK center, but the timings for Tatkal bookings will be 30 minutes after the Tatkal booking timings at the regular station ticket booking counters. That is at the YTSK Centre, AC Tatkal Tickets can be booked between 10.30 & 11.00 Hrs. and Non-AC Tatkal Tickets between 11.30 & 12.00 Hrs. on par with the other IRCTC/Private agency bookings.
