Partial cancellation of Train No.76849 / 76848 Salem – Vriddhachalam – Salem passenger train

Due to track doubling works between Vriddhachalam – Tiruvennainallur Road railway stations in Vriddhachalam – Villupuram section, Train No.76849 / 76848 Salem – Vriddhachalam – Salem passenger train services will be partially cancelled between Chinna Salem – Vriddhachalam from 31.10.2015 to 05.11.2015. On these days, the said trains will be operated between Salem and Chinna Salem only. 

Observation of Police Commemoration Day in Salem Division, Southern Railway

The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Salem Division, Southern Railway, has observed the Police Commemoration Day today in the Salem Division Office Premises. Sri Shubhranshu, Divisional Railway Manager, Salem, participated in the Commemoration Day and paid homage to the Martyrs, in the presence of Sri V. Govindarajan, Asst. Security Commissioner, RPF.  Sri Shubhranshu read out the names of martyrs from the Shahid Pustak (Martyrs Record Book), 9 from RPF and other police personnel, who laid down their lives while in service, in the past year (from 21.10.2014 to 20.10.2015), and paid rich tributes to them.  He mentioned that by remembering the martyrs, we remind our duties to ourselves. Later, he laid a wreath on the Martyrs Memorial, along with Sri Ma. Vignavelu, Sr. Divisional Engineer, Co-Ordination, Salem Division.

The Police Commemoration Day is observed by Police forces all over India, as a tribute to the sacrifice of 10 CRPF personnel who laid down their lives fighting against the Chinese Aggression, at Hotspring, Ladakh (J&K), on 21st October, 1959. 

Pension Adalat 2015 at Salem Division, Southern Railway

The Personnel Branch of the Southern Railway, Salem Division, is conducting a Pension Adalat at 10.30 Hrs. on 15.12.2015 in the Railway Officers' Club, (Behind New Divisional Office Building), Salem, to redresses grievances of Railway Pensioners and their family members. Hence, retired railway pensioners, family pensioners and other beneficiaries may represent their grievance, if any, on pension/family pension related matters, in writing addressed to the Divisional Personnel Officer, Salem Division, Southern Railway, Salem 636005, so as to reach him on or before 31.10.2015.  It is to be noted that matters pertaining to court cases, Disciplinary action cases and policy matters will not be entertained during the Pension Adalat.

Beautification of Walls in Railway Primary School by wall painting undertaken by Salem Division, Southern Railway

As part of its Swachch Bharat/Clean India Campaign, initiated by Hon'ble Prime Minister of India, today (12.10.2015), Salem Division, southern Railway, has organised a Wall Painting Program at the Saraswathi Vidhyalaya, a primary school being managed by the Southern Railway Women's Welfare Organisation (SRWWO), Salem. The program was chaired by Sri Shubhranshu, DRM, Salem, who took the brush himself and painted a beautiful Loco Picture on the wall. He was followed by Smt. Jyotsna Prasad, President/SRWWO, Smt. Seema Sinha, Vice President, SRWWO, and others. The program was organised with a view to inculcate in the young minds, the habit of keeping the surrounding neat and beautiful.

Opening of the new passenger waiting rooms at Salem Railway Station by Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Salem , today (06.10.2015)

The new Passenger Waiting Halls situated at platform No.4 of the Salem Junction were declared open by Sri V. Pannerselvam, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Salem Constituency, today (06.10.2015), in the presence of Sri Shubhranshu, Divisional Railway Manager, Salem Division, Southern Railway, and other officials of Salem Division.

In the two waiting rooms, one for general and other for Women passengers, sufficient number of toilets and bathrooms have been provided, along with 1 toilet in each waiting room, for the physically challenged persons. The seating capacity of the waiting rooms is 40 in general and 30 in Ladies’ Waiting Hall. Sufficient number of plug points have also been provided in the waiting halls, for charging of mobiles by the rail passengers. These two halls have been completed at a total cost of Rs.18 lakhs, as part of passenger amenities augmentation program at Salem Junction.

While addressing the media persons, Hon’ble Member of Parliament Sri V. Pannerselvam, lauded the DRM and other officials of Salem Division, for the efforts taken by them to better the passenger comfort in Salem Junction and other railway stations under their control. He mentioned that he has already taken up the matter of operating day time trains from Salem to Chennai Egmore and Kumbakonam, with the Hon’ble Minister for Railways, who has positively responded to the requests.  Hon’ble MP has further added that he will take up in the Parliament and with the Ministry of Railways, the matters of opening a second entry for Salem Junction to ease the congestion at the present entrance and installation of a Diesel Electric Multiple Unit (DEMU) Shed in Salem, which will facilitate introduction of DEMU trains originating from Salem to various places. He also assured that all help will be provided to Salem Division in the interest of rail passengers of Salem District. 

During his interaction with media persons, Sri Shubhranshu, Divisional Railway Manager, said that present waiting hall which is in use now, after shifting to the new facility, would be converted to airconditioned waiting hall for passengers, for which tenders have already been called for. He said that the hourly charges for the AC waiting hall would be Rs.15/-

Later, during his discussions with DRM, Hon’ble MP raised the issue of shifting the goods shed from Salem Junction to Salem Market Railway Station, for which DRM clarified that only the freight for Food Corporation of India, are being handled at Salem Junction at present, and shifting of the same to Salem Market would facilitate construction of more platforms and opening of second entry. Further, to a query by Hon’ble MP on water logging at the RUBs (Road under bridges) in Omalur area, DRM informed him that pumps have been provided to flush out the water stagnated in the said RUBs and the local bodies such as Panchayats nearby have been entrusted with their maintenance and payment of the electricity bills for the same. Due to the increased height of RUBs only, as per demand of the local public, the depth was getting increased, resulting in stagnation of water, it was explained.

Partial cancellation of passenger trains on 5.10.15 and 9.10.15 between Salem and Jolarpet

Due to reconstruction of bridges in between Bommidi and Lokur, T.Nos.56840/56839 Jolarpet-Erode-Jolarpet Passenger & T.Nos.66019/66020 Salem-Katpadi-Salem MEMU Passenger will be partially cancelled between Jolarpet and Salem on 05.10.15 Monday and 09.10.15 Friday. On these days, T.Nos.56840/56839 Jolarpet-Erode-Jolarpet Passenger will run between Erode and Salem & T.Nos.66019/66020 Salem-Katpadi-Salem MEMU Passenger will run between Katpadi and Jolarpet only. TEMPORARY STOPPAGE FOR TRAINS AT UNJALUR in Karur-Erode Section

 

In view of the Aradhanai celebrations of Sathguru Sri Seshadri Swamigal Adhistanam at Unjalur, the following trains will be provided a temporary stoppage of one minute duration at Unjalur railway station in Karur – Erode section from 28.12.2015 to 04.01.2016 for the convenience of pilgrims.
