Wall Painting by Volunteers at Coimbatore Railway Station
Salem
Division of Southern Railway, in the process of involving citizens in
cleanliness and spreading various social themes, has been inviting school/college
students, NGOs in wall paintings in the various railway station premises within
its jurisdiction. Such wall paintings have been carried out in Coimbatore,
Mettupalayam and Salem Stations. We are now planning invite participants for such
wall paintings at Coimbatore, Erode, Salem, Tiruppur, etc.,
During the coming summer vacations
for schools/colleges, budding/established artists/NGOs may approach the Public
Relations Officer, Salem Division, Southern Railway, Suramangalam, Salem 636
005, on either Mobile No. 9003 956 931 or on E-mail : prosalemdivision@gmail.com, to enroll themselves for
wall painting/graffiti works carrying railway/social themes at the above
stations. Paint and other input materials will be provided by the railways. The
work will be entrusted on first-come-first-served basis. So, it is requested
that the interested persons may approach the PRO of Salem Division at the
earliest.
The artists will also be invited to
participate in the "Swachch Bharat" Mission campaign at Railway Stations.

Facilities at designated Railway Stations for Differently Abled Passengers to Apply For photo ID Cards to Avail Concessional Train Fare
Indian
Railway has introduced the system of issuing of a Photo ID for the differently
abled persons which will enable them to book their tickets on-line through
e-ticketing as well as across the counter. While the persons requiring these ID
cards have the option of sending in the required papers by post to the
Divisional Offices in Chennai, Tiruchchirappalli, Madurai, Salem, Palakkad and
Thiruvananthapuram, Southern Railway has gone one step further to make it more
convenient for concession holders to apply for the Railway ID.
For
the convenience of the differently abled passengers, in addition to the Salem Divisional
Office designated for receiving these applications on all working dates, the
Salem Division, Southern Railway, has made arrangements for receiving the
applications AT THE FOLLOWING 5 RAILWAY STATIONS BETWEEN 10.00 AND
13.00 HRS. ON EVERY TUESDAY AND THURSDAY.

4. Coimbatore
5. Udhagamandalam
These
locations will commence receiving applications from the 1st of
May 2015 and continue to do so for a period of TWO MONTHS ONLY after which the Salem Divisional Offices alone will
continue to receive the applications.
Concession
holders, therefore, have the following three options:
1. Send their application by post to the Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Salem Division.
2. Visit Salem Railway Divisional Office on any working day and submit their applications.

Submit their applications at the stations listed above on any TUESDAY /THURSDAY between 10.00 hrs. and 13.00 hrs.
On completion of verification, the
cards can be collected from the place of submission, in person or through an
authorized representative on Tuesdays and Thursdays. If the applicant submits
his mobile phone number along with his application, he/she will be intimated by
an SMS to collect the card. Otherwise, they may collect the card after three
weeks.

Southern Railway Salem Division kicks off the Safety Propaganda against loss of lives due to electrocution in railway premises
With a view to create awareness
among general public and the train passengers on the risks of going near the
electrical structures/poles in the railway premises and climbing on top of the
stationed/moving locomotives/coaches/wagons, with a view to prevent the loss of
lives due to electrocution, Salem Division, Southern Railway, is conducting an
Awareness Campaign for 3 days from 23.04.2015 to 25.04.2015, in all the railway
stations of Salem Division, starting from Tirupattur to Podhanur, covering
about 73 stations and level crossings. The Safety Propaganda Van was
flagged off from the Salem Divisional Office by Shri.Shubhranshu, Divisional
Railway Manager, Salem, today(23rd April, 2015).
After flagging off the Electrical Safety Propaganda van,
during interaction with media persons, Shri
Shubhranshu stated that the accident records of Salem Division due to
electrocution was impeccable with only 3 deaths during 2014-15, that too
because of the fact that the persons involved in the mishaps were mentally
unstable. He said that due to lack of awareness only, accidents take place, and
as a preventive step, this Awareness Campaign is being taken up by Salem
Division. He further stated that in these 3 days, the
Safety Campaign Van will travel to all the stations in Salem Division and will
interact with the general public to educate them on the risks of going near the
electrified tractions, climbing over the electric locomotives, climbing or
touching the traction poles/structures, by way of distribution of Pocket
Calendars/Student Scales carrying Safety Messages and Pamphlets, etc.,

Safety Campaign by Salem Division, Southern Railway, to prevent deaths by electrocution
With
