Holiday Home and Officers’ Rest House at Yercaud dedicated by Salem Division, Southern Railway today (14.11.2017)








As part of the various steps by the Salem Division, Southern Railway, for the welfare of both serving and retired railway employees, the Staff Holiday Home and the Officers’ Rest House developed at Yercaud, was declared open today (14.11.2017), for the use of both retired and serving railway employees and officers.  The Holiday Home and Officers’ Rest House facility was dedicated by Sri A. Ramachandran, Asst. Divisional Engineer, Salem Division, in the presence of Sri Hari Shankar Verma, DRM, Smt Anita Verma, President, Southern Railway Women’s’ Welfare organisation, Salem, Sri Chandrapal, ADRM, Smt Kusum Lata, Vice President, SRWWO, Dr. M. Narasimham, Chief Medical Superintendant, Salem Division, Sri Perumal Nandalal, Sr. Divl Engineer, Dr. S. Uma Maheswari, Sr. Divl. Finance Manager, Sri M. Prabhakaran, Sr. Divl Electrical Engineer,  Sri LN Sivanath Babu, Sr. Divl Signal and Telecom Engineer, Sri A. Vijuvin, Sr. Divl Commercial Manager,  Sri. M. Mariappan, Divl Engineer, Sri BDG Sundar Rao, Asst. Material Manager, other officers and staff of Salem Division. The Holiday Home/Officers’ Rest House have been  developed at a cost of Rs. 30 lakhs in the erstwhile Micro Wave Tower premises in Yercaud which has become defunct for a decade now, with the advent of advanced telecommunication channels. To tap green and clean energy sources, solar powered lamps have been fitted in the Holiday Home premises. 

Sri Verma said that the facility that was dedicated today has been a long pending demand for a few decades now, from the railway employees who wanted to have such a Holiday Home in Yercaud which is termed as the ‘Poor Man’s Ooty’. He further stated that two Holiday Homes and three Rest House Rooms herein have been provided with all required furniture and cooking facilities, along with a team of caretakers available round the clock to assist the railway employees and officers visiting Yercaud. He expressed the hope that the facility will be found useful by the staff and officers both serving and retired, to have a break with their families.
