New Divisional Railway Manager assumes charge at Salem Division, Southern Railway

Shri Hari Shankar Verma, has assumed charge as Divisional Railway Manager of Salem Division, Southern Railway, today (26.04.2016).  He is the fifth Divisional Railway Manager of Salem Division.  Belonging to Indian Railway Traffic Services (IRTS), Shri H.S. Verma has joined Indian Railway Services in the year 1987. He has worked in various capacities at Western Railway and Central Railway. He has spent almost all his career in Operations Branch as Divisional Operations Manager and Sr. Divisional Operations Manager in Bhopal Division.

During his tenure therein, the first ever ISO certification  for the Habibganj Railway Station, Bhopal Control Room and Habibganj-Nizamuddin Express were awarded by the Quality Certification experts. He has also been the Principal of Zonal Training Centre (ZTC), Bhusawal, where he was instrumental for ISO Certification for the ZTC, for the first time in Indian Railways. 

He has also been the Additional Divisional Railway Manager, Mumbai, Central Railway for 2½ years and brought out improvement in punctuality of Mumbai Suburban trains operation.  He has, for the first time in Indian Railways, established private freight terminal at Nagpur in his capacity as Chief Commercial Manager, Central Railway.

During his last tenure as Chief Passenger Transportation Manager, Central Railway, he has permanently augmented 238 coaches to daily trains and extended the locos to reduce the lie over periods, thus enabling running of more services to long distances.

He had been to Malaysia, Singapore and various other countries on official assignments/trainings. He has keen interest in Environment and Social improvement.
