The Erode-Chennai Egmore Day Time Special Express train via Salem, that has been introduced recently, as per the long time demand from the passengers of Salem-Vridhachalam Section for a day time intercity express to and from Chennai, is receiving very poor patronage from the passengers. It has been observed that only 20% of the seats are only occupied in the train, on an average. In the event of continuance of the poor patronage, Railways may have no other option, but to withdraw the said special train services. It is therefore requested that the passengers may comer forward to patronise the train, if they want the special to be either extended or to be considered for conversion into a regular train.
iT IS SUGGESTED TO EXTEND THIS TRAIN TO COIMBATORE AS A TRIAL BASIS.
ReplyDeleteFirst of all this train can't be filled by SA/SXT alone. It needs people from ED/SGE.
ReplyDeleteIf SR wants ED people to board in ED-MS IC, the timing should be on or after 6am at ED and should reach on or before 10pm.
Any timing favoring just one single II tier city, particularly in circuitous route, will result like this.
20% average patronage is a completely false statement. Regular weekend travelers have always seen more than 80% patronage on Fridays, Sundays and Mondays. Average patronage should be well over 60%.
ReplyDelete- Make the train depart MS/TBM late
- speed up between VRI & SA,
- cut down the buffer time between SXT & SA
- Promote the train to traveling public
Salem patronizes 60% of Yercaud Express and 100% of SA-MS overnight Express consistently - there is no question about the patronage from Salem.
It is the departure time from MS/TBM - starting 30 minutes after Coimbatore Intercity & reaching SA 2 hrs 20 minutes after. Anyone will prefer Intercity any day when there is availability. Timing of this train can be adjusted:
MS dep 4.10PM
TBM dep 4.30PM
SXT arr 21:15
SA arr 21:30 dep 21:50
ED arr 22:45
Today's run of this train is waitlisted. And they call this a poor patronage? High time Salem DRM stays firm to regularize this train. It can be made to leave Egmore/Tambaram late (after 4PM) to attract more passengers.

As of 10AM - it was in WL8 for 25/11/2016. Patronage is never a question, it is just the gimmick by Railways to cite some reason to avoid regularizing the train. There are 100s of people in VRI-SXT stretch benefiting from this train.
