Partial cancellation of passenger trains on 5.10.15 and 9.10.15 between Salem and Jolarpet

Due to reconstruction of bridges in between Bommidi and Lokur, T.Nos.56840/56839 Jolarpet-Erode-Jolarpet Passenger & T.Nos.66019/66020 Salem-Katpadi-Salem MEMU Passenger will be partially cancelled between Jolarpet and Salem on 05.10.15 Monday and 09.10.15 Friday. On these days, T.Nos.56840/56839 Jolarpet-Erode-Jolarpet Passenger will run between Erode and Salem & T.Nos.66019/66020 Salem-Katpadi-Salem MEMU Passenger will run between Katpadi and Jolarpet only. TEMPORARY STOPPAGE FOR TRAINS AT UNJALUR in Karur-Erode Section

 

In view of the Aradhanai celebrations of Sathguru Sri Seshadri Swamigal Adhistanam at Unjalur, the following trains will be provided a temporary stoppage of one minute duration at Unjalur railway station in Karur – Erode section from 28.12.2015 to 04.01.2016 for the convenience of pilgrims.

Clean India Campaign at Salem Junction

As a part of continuous efforts by Indian Railways to keep the railways clean, a Cleanliness Campaign as part of Honorable Prime Minister’s Swachch Bharat initiative, was held at Salem Junction today (19.09.2015).

About 60 Volunteers of NSS from Sona College of Technology, Salem, and employees of Salem Division, Southern Railway, participated in the Cleanliness Campaign and cleaned the station premises. They also met the passengers and educated them of the importance of their cooperation in keeping the railway premises. They also distributed pamphlets and handouts containing various cleanliness messages. Handouts containing the timings of the Special Passenger Trains between Salem and Karur that are in operation were distributed among passengers with a view to let the passengers know about these trains.

Superfast special trains between Chennai Central – Ernakulam Jn. Via Salem, Erode, Tiruppur & Coimbatore

Train No.06084 Chennai Central – Ernakulam Jn. superfast special train will leave Chennai Central at 18.15 hrs. o­n 16.09.2015 and reach Ernakulam Jn. at 06.50 hrs. the next day.  Train No.06085 Ernakulam Jn. – Chennai Central superfast special train will leave Ernakulam Jn. at 19.00 hrs. o­n 17.09.2015 and reach Chennai Central at 07.15 hrs. the next day.  Train No.06084 Chennai Central – Ernakulam Jn. superfast special train will stop at Ernakulam Town also. Train No.06085 Ernakulam Jn. – Chennai Central superfast special train will stop at Perambur also.

Composition:  AC 2-tier – 1, AC 3-tier – 2, Sleeper Class – 12 & Luggage-cum-brake van – 2 coaches.

SPECIAL PASSENGER TRAINS BETWEEN SALEM & KARUR

Passenger Spl. Trains Nos. 06743/06744 will be operated between Karur & Salem, for 3 months on temporary basis daily (including Sundays) from 16.09.2015 to 30.11.2015, as per timings attached here. In addition, on Sundays, Spl. Pasenger Trains No.06739/06740 will be operated between Salem & Karur as per the Time Table for T.No.56105/56106 Salem-Karur-Salem Passenger Trains & T.Nos. 06741/06742  Trains will be operated between Salem & Karur as per the Time Table for T.No. 56107/56108 Salem-Karur-Salem Passenger Trains.  

Airconditioned Passenger Waiting Hall opened at Erode Junction

To improve the comfort of railway passengers, Indian Railways is taking various steps in all the major stations. As an additional step in this direction, Salem Division, Southern Railway, has inaugurated the airconditioned Passenger Waiting Hall at the Erode junction today (11.09.2015).  The new waiting hall, capable of accommodating 36 passengers at a time, is provided in the subway of Erode Junction near the main entrance. The tariff for using the AC waiting for one hour has been fixed at Rs.15/- per passenger. Any passenger holding a valid train ticket can make use of this facility. Already, an airconditioned waiting hall for the train passengers is functioning in the Coimbatore junction and another one is to be inaugurated shortly in the Salem Junction.
