Sir K.R.Suresh Babu, Sr. Section Engineer/Electrical, Karur, of Salem Division, Southern Railway, has been awarded the prestigious Railway Week Award at Railway Board Level and will be receiving the same from the Hon’ble Railway Minister during the All India Railway Week Function to be held in Guwahati on 13th April, 2015. He is the man behind many innovations such as re-using the discarded train lighting Battery for unreserved ticket issue counters’ UPS, the first solar driven pump at Perugumani Railway Station, the first GSM based automatic switching on and switching of railway station water pumps from remote, Energy smart CFL fittings in entire Karur-Trichy Fort and Karur-Dindigul sections, energy efficient LED name boards at Karur, Smart Energy Metering at Karur that will enable remote meter reading and recording, and many other development work by the Electrical General Branch of Salem Division.
