From February 27th, 2015, the Customer Care No. 138 has started functioning in Salem Division, Southern Railway, as announced by Hon’ble Minister for Railways, during his budget speech. This number is meant for railway passengers to lodge a voice complaint regarding cleanliness of coaches, food and catering, coach maintenance, the bed linen supplied to them, as well as to seek emergency medical care when needed.

It has been observed for the past 3 days, railway passengers calling this number for enquiry regarding train arrival, PNR position, whenever the IVRS helpline No. 139 is not available and also for enquiries on matters not related to railways.

It is advised that general public travelling in trains passing through Salem Division area may call this Customer Care Contact Number 138 only for lodging a voice complaint regarding cleanliness of coaches, food and catering, coach maintenance, the bed linen supplied to them, as well as for emergency medical care when needed. For any other matters like enquiry, etc., they have to call No.139 ONLY. So, both the Security Helpline Nos.1322 and 182 will be concurrently available to complainants for raising security related complaints. After 6 months, only Security Helpline No.182 will be in use.

  1. Since this number is introduced recently, people are checking whether this number is really functioning. Unnecessary call will not be there in future.
