Buddireddypatti Station before erection of FOB
Erection work in Progress
The Foot Over Bridge (FOB) after erection
The Engineering Branch officials and staff of Salem Division, Southern Railway, have completed erection of a Foot Over Bridge (FOB) in the Buddireddypatti Railway Station in between Morappur and Bommidi Railway Stations, in a record time of just 3 hours, as against the normal time requirement of 2 to 3 days. This was made possible by meticulous planning and by use of pre-fabricated steel items. It was ensured that there was not any disruption in the operation of trains in the route, because of the erection of FOB. The FOB is at 6.5 Meters height from the track and is of 3 meters width. So, it will be easy for the public to safely cross the tracks without any risk. The FOB constructed at a cost of Rs.1 crore, has been a long demand by the local residents as it was difficult to reach one platform from another, and there was inherent compromise of safety involved therein, while trying to cross the tracks. A team of Salem Division Engineering Branch Officers and staff under the guidance of Sri Ma.Vignavelu, Sr. Divisional Engineer/Co-ordination and Sri Mariappan, Divisional Engineer, undertook the work and completed the erection successfully. Sir Shubhranshu, Divisional Railway Manager, Salem, appreciated the swift manner in which the work was handled by the Engineering Branch and said that one more such Foot Over Bridge is being planned to be erected in Samalpatti Railway Station between Thiurpattur and Morappur Railway Stations.
Great efforts. Congratulation to the engineers who involved in this work.
