The
sixth day of the Swachchta Saptah (Cleanliness Week) campaign was observed
today (22.09.2016) as the Swchch Sahyog Diwas (Participative
Cleanliness Day) all over Salem Division. Today was dedicated to creating awareness among all
rail users to keep the railway premises clean, by way of distribution of handouts/notices, imposing fine on defaulters,
undertaking road shows, etc., involving NGOs, schools, trade unions and
voluntary groups. Officers and
staff under the guidance of Sri Chandra Pal, Addl. Divisional Railway Manager,
Salem, undertook the cleaning awareness campaign in Salem, Erode, Tiruppur, Coimbatore,
Mettupalayam, Coonoor, Ooty, Karur, Morappur, Thiruppathur, etc., In Coimbatore
junction, Chief Electrical Distribution Engineer, Southern Railway, Sri
B.V.Chandrasekar, participated in the Swachhta Saptah campaign and involved in
the activities along with the officers and staff. In Salem,
students and volunteers from Sona College of Technology, Salem, in Coimbatore, volunteers
from Aditya Institute of Technology, Coimbatore, and in Tirupur, volunteers
from Kumaran College for Women/Rotary Club of Tiruppur/Don Bosco Nest/Mariyalayam
Home for Destitute Children, participated in the campaign in the stations in
large numbers, distributing handouts and requesting them to help Railways in
keeping the railway premises clean.
