The
third day of the Swachchta Saptah (Cleanliness Week) campaign was observed
today (19.09.2016) as the Swchch Rail Gaadi Diwas (Clean Trains Day) all over
Salem Division. The Officers and staff of Salem Division under the guidance of
Sri Chandra Pal, Addl. Divisional Railway Manager, Salem, carried out
inspection of coaches of the trains at Salem Division for cleanliness. Special attention
was given to checking of pantry cars in trains and other eating establishments
in all the stations.
The
pantry cars in about 12 trains were checked by a team of officers and staff, along
with Sri Viju Vin, Divisional Commercial Manager/Co-ordination, for
cleanliness, expiry date of the packed foods, particularly the milk pockets,
rates in the food packets, weight of the food pockets as per directions, etc. Randomly,
enquiry with the passengers was also carried out, as to the quality and
hygienity of the foods, and the passengers expressed their satisfaction over
the quality and hygienity. Inspection was also carried out in the VRR (Vegetarian
Refreshment Room) and other eateries of the stations, as to the cleanliness of
the premises, display of rates, the availability of stocks, etc. In one of the
fruit outlets, it was found that a few fruits were not in fresh condition, and
the vendor was given a strict warning and they were removed immediately. The availability of baby food in the Janani
Sewa Stalls were also checked as to the sufficiency of stocks, rates, expiry
date of the packets. When it was found in one of the stalls that the vendor did
not have stock of the feeding bottles, he was advised to replenish them
immediately.
