Swachh Station Diwas (Clean Station Day) observed as part of Swachh Saptah (Cleanliness Week) observed at Salem Division, Southern Railway, today (18.09.2016)

The second day of the Swachch Saptah (Cleanliness Week) that is being observed all over Indian Railways to create awareness among rail users on the importance of their cooperation in keeping the Railway premises clean, was observed as the Swachh Station Divas (Clean Station Day) all over Salem Division, Southern Railway, today (18.09.2016).

Officers and staff of Salem Division were involved in cleaning of all the station premises, using cleaning machines and other tools/plants, under the  guidance of Sri Chandra Pal, Addl. Divisional Railway Manager, Salem. Separate dustbins were provided for collection of different types of wastes such as biodegradable and non-degradable, etc. Various NGOs, Scouts and guides were involved in the cleaning activities in all the stations. The volunteers advised the rail users to fill the dust bins and not to throw the garbage/wastes outside the dustbins. The activities were taken up in all the stations of Salem Division, including Salem, Erode, Tiruppur, Karur, Coimbatore, Mettupalayam, Tirupathur, Morappur, etc.
